I got a chance to photograph Comet C/2023 A3 with Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 II lens, adapted to my GFX100s. Whole setup was mounted on the tripod and Skywatcher star tracker mount to remove the effect of earth rotation. Photos were taken around 9 pm, just few hours after sunset near a heavy lit school stadium.
First I took aim picture with GF 45/2.8 lens. Sky in this area is very busy with air traffic from nearby Newark airport. Also light conditions were suboptimal with a strong lights for the nearby school sports stadium.
And then changed the lens on the body and took a better 300mm focal:
With magic of cropping we can get close-up of the comet as well:
Settings used:
Exposure: 2.5 seconds
Aperture: f4-ish
ISO: 2500
IBIS: OFF
Shutter type: ES
Images were processed in darktable 4.8.1. Perhaps I should check nearby parks to see if I can get darker skies next few days to redo the image.
